New York City played host to ABSOLUT X this week, at the Roseland Ballroom with the swedish Vodka brand’s interpretation of a modern masquerade ball. ABSOLUT X dons the tagline “the intersection of art, music and cocktails;” and they looked to prove that very point transforming the space with striking art installations (including a giant red Hula Girl) by acclaimed contemporary artist Sanford Biggers, as an always impressive Questlove kept the crowd on their feet with a lavish show of turntablism all while directing the pulse of the dance floor for a proper 2 hour DJ set. To finish the trifecta, maestro mixologist Naren Young served up custom drinks all night to the crowd.
The night continued with Santigold taking the stage and catapulting into a high energy performance showing the depth of her catalog, while commanding the attention of the more than 2,500 fans in attendance.
Maybe it was the masks or maybe the free booze, but either way the combination brought out the best in the crowd with an infectious energy spread through the building all night.
