For the second year, Frieze Magazine and Deutsche Bank will be hosting Frieze New York, it’s international contemporary art fair, on Randall’s Island Park, from May 10–13, 2013. Housed in a structure designed by New York-based SO – IL architects, an idea-based architecture and design office based in Brooklyn, the fair will offer over 180 galleries, a sculpture park, food, panel discussions, education initiatives and more.

With over 1,000 of the world’s leading artists, visitors will see works from around the globe including galleries from 32 countries including Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Denmark, India, Ireland, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, South Africa, The Netherlands, Turkey and more.

An interesting feature that blends luxury, audio art, and transportation will be Frieze Sounds, which will include three commissioned audio works by artists: Charles Atlas and the New Humans, Trisha Baga, and Haroon Mirza. The sound works will be premiered in the BMW 7 Series cars that operate the VIP shuttle services from Randall’s Island.

Education programming includes the Frieze New York Education space. It will allow public school classes and museum groups to explore the fair through workshops in a dedicated structure. Free Arts NYC and 826NYC will program the space to produce a “dynamic context for students ranging from 4th–12th grade to explore notions of contemporary art and color.”

Food and beverages at Frieze will be provided by Frankies Spuntino, Sant Ambroeus, The Fat Radish, Roberta’s, Mission Chinese, Blue Bottle Coffee and Court Street Grocers.

Frieze New York promises to be a feast for all senses.
