Welcome to the weird and wacky world of Blludd Relations, who are Jesse Hackett and Nathan Jenkins – both established artists in their own right.
Jesse Hackett released his debut “Album Sound” in 2005 as Elmore Judd and later came out with the well received “Tron Song” on Honest Jon’s label. In 2010 he toured with Gorillaz for a year as their keyboard player, and later formed the seven-piece Owiny Sigomy band, which is signed to Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings. Jesse has described the British-Kenyan Owiny Sigomy band as “a psychedelic African jam band with pop leanings”.
The other half of Blludd Relations is Nathan Jenkins, more popularly known as Bullion, who first shot to fame with his self-released mash-up album “Pet Sounds: in the Key of Dee” in 2007, and then a year later released the electronic, instrumental hip hop anthem “Get Familiar” on One Handed Music.
Taking on new characters, seemingly inspired by The Mighty Boosh, the blue and green duo blend their respective styles and inspirations into a delightfully bizarre, experimental and fascinating soundscape, infused with a cosmic sense of humor.
Check out Blludd Relations’ new video “Even Steven” (directed by Dan Canyon) from their self-titled album, due for release on May 6 on Bullion’s own imprint DEEK Recordings.
