Solange rocked the Black Cat at the first of two sold out shows. And we were there to sing and cheer her on. Opening act Kelela, displayed her blend of Soul and Electronica. She kinda reminded me of the Weeknd but way less emo. The packed house anxiously waited for Solange. Finally after a thirty minute intermission she emerged, rocking a cute two piece mod-esque skirt set. Solange’s voice was just right, even with the few sound glitches, she still had a helluva performance. Her set was comprised of songs from True, as well as a few from her 2008 Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams album and one surprising cover of “I Could Fall in Love With You” by late Tejano singer Selena.
