D.C. is always ripe with fresh talent that consistently challenge popular genres. The group I am referring too is Misun, a trio comprised of Misun Wojcik, William Devon and Nacey, a member of Nouveau Riche. Pulling from different genres to create their own music lovechild, they’ve created quirky music subgenres like Motown pop, aqua-wave/emo-pop and now, smooth nu dance which can be heard from their song “Sharpshooter”.
Though their wrap sheet is a bit sporadic, the group has the potential, especially if you base it off their opening set for Tittsworth at U Street Music Hall. If you were unable to catch the show, you can see them at our CMJ Showcase, “The Circus” at Drom on October 16th from 9-1AM. If you’re a CMJ Badge holder, the event is free and if you’re not, then it’s a mere $10, which by the way, will be the best $10 you’ve spent in a while. Tickets can be purchased here.
