Couch Sessions’ Brand Manager and Partner Jon Heredia and I were at the Vice Magazine event at Nitehawk Cinema in Williamsburg Brooklyn for the screening of David Altobelli’s short film Roma. Last Night’s Party was also there to document the event with its sexified flicks, which our own Jon became the subject of.
If you haven’t been to Nitehawk the décor is an eclectic mix of industrial, art deco, and contemporary design. The bar in the mezzanine is designed around a classic theater marquee. Before the screening there was an open bar and hors d’oeuvres, and the spicy meatballs were the stars.
55DSL linked up with the director to produce the short reminiscent of, as one youtube comments section film critic notes, Gustav Johansson’s EF – Live the Language shorts. The film is a love story set in Rome as seen through the eyes of a young skater. The time line, much in the same way young romance does, bends, breaks, and does cartwheels. The only sound is the track “Arrows” by Keith Kenniff, which along with the fast transitions between scenes leads you to think you are watching the music video for. Film, music, a nice place to hang, complimentary food and drinks, how does Vice Magazine know what we like so well?
