ALBUM PREVIEW: OM Lounge 12
Coachella-goers who ventured out west for the music festival may need a break from the nonstop action and OM Records has another OM Lounge compilation dropping tomorrow which provides a great opportunity to chill and recover. Just from the preview I listened to on the OM Soundcloud page (see below) I could get a good grasp of the diversity of the tracks on the 12th installment of the popular compilation series. There are many different sounds are represented, from 80’s synth to stuff with heavier beats with a dubstep feel (Lance DeSardi’s “Cut to the Chorus” a good example). It is not all downtempo either, however, so you’ll still experience a good range of highs and lows.
OM label veterans J Boogie Dubtronic Science and Underworld appear as two of the bigger names in the “chill out” genre and they are represented with the light and bubbly “Heaven’s Drop” and the synthy “Moon in Water” (from Underworld’s 2010 “Barky” album), respectively. M3 and Bachelors of Science turn in a funkified remix of Groove Armada’s “History” to add another big name to the mix. You will also enjoy the funk infused Nightmares on Wax remix of Soulstice’s “Love Cliche” and the ultra smooth groove on Crazy P’s “Heartbreaker.” Finally, Blackbird Blackbird produces a nice building and pulsating sound on “Happy With You.”
You can (pre)order OM Lounge 12 on Amazon and again the compilation drops Tuesday, April 17th. I can’t wait to get more into these tracks after hearing ninety seconds of each one!
