I just stumbled across this brilliant song from the duo comprised of producer/lyricist, Roman Lee, and vocalist, Jacque Hammond. Together, in an homage to two indelible figures of the Civil Rights Movement, they are known as Martin Parks. Their five track album dropped on February 29th and “Lazy” has single songedly (yes, I just made that word up) pulled me out of my flu induced fog. I have a spot on suspicion Georgia Anne Muldrow and Anthony David fans will fall head-over-heels in love with this jam.
If forced to choose favorites from the album, I’d have to share the shine between this song and “The 11:45”. The saxophone solo on “The 11:45” completely sealed my music loving deal for Martin Parks. Although, I also really love that the first song, “A Dollar Five”, has a refreshing folky vibe to it; it feels classic and brings to mind images of playing hand games on a schoolyard playground… but with awesome grown and sexy vocals in place of the sing-song kid sounds.
All in all, if you’re looking for something sensuous, simple and smooth to feel yourself up to at night, I highly recommend you press play on this album. I can already envision loads of Youtube covers of each and every song on the album.
Get ready, y’all – Martin Parks is going to be something big and beautiful.
