Kanye West protégé and rising Nigerian artist D’banj made his New York City debut at NYC’s Irving Plaza in front of a sold out crowd on Sunday (February 19) –that’s quite an impressive feat wonder if that’s because of who is mentor is.  Mr. West signed D’banj (nee’ Dapo Oyebanj) to the G.O.O.D Music imprint last year.  D’banj opened his show by showing homage to the late Whitney Houston, by not only showing her image on a projector screen but by performing Houston’s “My Love is Your Love”.  The sprightly entertainer was joined by artists from the  Mo’ Hits label which included D’Prince, Wande Cole, Dr. Sid and G.O.O.D Music’s Don Jazzy.  Keep your eye on D’banj, he’s taking flight.
