UK TINGS: The Thirst

by Winston "Stone" Ford

As I’ve been saying time and time again, the UK is producing some of the best forward thinking music these days. And although many of the artists we’ve spotlighted this year have been from the singer-songwriter or electronic varieties, there is still much room for straight ahead rock.

Take The Thirst. The London band has been on the grind since 2008, but it’s their latest EP that has caught my attention. To be honest, the lead single “Damn Girl,” didn’t do enough to warrant my attention. But it’s the EP that is solid, with brothers Mensah and  Kwame Hart providing some soulful vocals over straight ahead pop rock. A simple combination yes, but it works.

In their native UK they’ve opened up for everybody from The Sex Pistols to UK rapper Chipmunk. Their EP, Laugh With the Sinners is available to stream or download with the liberation of your email address. Check it.
