The UK does it AGAIN.
Just when I was getting settled in with the sounds of Lianne La Havas, the homie Ian puts me on to another female gem from across the pond, Elan Tamara. Drawing inspiration such varied artists as Balinese Gamelan and Nina Simone, her music spans everything–classical, folk, jazz, soul, and all in-between. The result is something that is laid back, organic, and just natural. This is sittin’ on the porch on a Sunday afternoon sippin’ sweet tea music.
There is something about the UK that allows their females to have more freedom in music. Something that I’ve always said that US females need to learn. And like all the other females in the UK, Elan Tamara is continuing to teach us how to dougie.
