UK TINGS: Maverick Sabre – Let Me Go

The UK has had several experimental MC/vocalist combinations over the few years. Most notably is Plan B, who’s ambitious (yet confusing) Strickland Banks is slowly crossing the pond. Now there is Maverick Sabre, the 20 year old Irish based crooner and MC. Maverck, who recently guested on Chase and Status’ drum and bass tinged “”Fire In Your Eyes,” is set to release his self-titled solo project in the UK in November. “Let Me Go,” is the lead single, and what struck me first is the production on the single, which samples Portishead’s “Glory Box,” which in turn samples Issac Hayes’ “Ike’s Rap II.”

“Let Me Go,” is set to be a pop single in the UK and the video (which looks like a version of The Hangover gone bad) has already racked up an impressive have million views on YouTube. Check it. (via SoulCulture)
