NEW Track: Emeli Sandé – Heaven

by Winston "Stone" Ford

You know who I’m always interested in? The ladies who sing hooks.

Lots of time they are session singers who fall into the background. Thank goodness Emeli Sandé was not one of them. The Scottish-born, London-living singer has worked with several artists in the UK grime community, including Wiley and Chipmunk, and has written for such artists as Tinie Tempah, Cheryl Cole, and even Susan Boyle.

As a feature artist however, Emeli (who’s real first name is Adele ironically) has bounced between labels. However, she’s set to release her debut album this year, and the first track Heaven has show up on the ‘Net. The classic D&B feel meshed with pop vocals is sure to be a floor filler overseas. Check it. (via Pinboard)

Yes the hook is great! She kinda a little bit sounds like Beyonce… but she can hit some notes that are quite impressive. Love that she singing ‘R&B’ over a D&B track.

It would be pretty sad if this stays overseas… There are some folks here in the States have NO idea what they’re missing out on.
