The Clipse are hands down one of my favorite rap groups of all time, and most likely the second best rap duo this decade (guess the first). But since the brothers have parted ways it seems that both are scrambling for relevancy.
I recently attended the listening party for Pusha T’s latest mixtape My God. With Pusha on G.O.O.D., the party was attended by such notables as A-Trak and Ryan Leslie, in a posh downtown Manhattan studio. What I can tell of the bat is that Pusha is incredibly proud of this project. The boyhood eagerness that he exudes when this song in particular is playing is a testament to a dude that experience the ups and downs of being in the industry.
I listened to My God, and while it’s a solid effort, it makes me long for the days of Lord Willin’. To see the duo go their separate ways is disheartening to me. But I’ll support where I can, and hope for a Clipse reunion.
