Every year there is one artist that I fail to see at SXSW at great emotional cost to my musical psycle. This year it was Tune-Yards. The Oakland-based artist more than killed it at the festival and I’m completely obsessed with her left-field, minimalist, one woman band acetic. Merrill has been gaining pub in the past year, getting paper from a Blackberry commercial and high praises from such outlets as Pitchfork, and this big budget video for Bizness means that she will only get stronger in 2011. Check it.
