Let’s face it, it’s been a while that the location Brooklyn has been synonymous with hip-hop.
The borough that birthed Jay-Z Memphis Bleek, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, and the Notorious BIG has been searching for a rap ambassador for a while. In fact, the whole city of New York has been on this search. Sure, they have imported Jay Electronica (New Orleans) and J Cole (North Carolina) respectively. But it’s not the same.
However Brooklyn’s Fresh Daily has stepped up to the throne. However, Fresh is not on the same track as most New York hip-hop. Think futuristic beats in place of boom bap. But unlike some projects, Fresh pulls it off. His quirky wordplay and slick delivery, Fresh combines futuristic hip-hop and concept art in a way that distances himself from many in the game.
