NEW MUSIC: Bullets Over Romance – Jukin’

by Winston "Stone" Ford

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from DC’s alt soul collective Bullets Over Romance, but 2010 marks their return. You might remember them from the 2008 track “Last Call For Love,” which got some buzz on the site. Well now, they return with the new project, Jukin’. The sound is slightly different, as they now venture into an interpretation of Delta Blues with a hip-hop edge.

Led by producer Julian Weaver’s other hip-hop project, Subwoofer Science, the EP starts off with the hip-hop styling of the the group, however by the type our ears hear the track Spaceship, it becomes an entirely different project altogether.

Lead singer Eric Brokin’s raspy, down home vocals are a perfect accompaniment to the project, and re-create the Delta Blues better than anything I’ve heard in quite a while. This EP is a definite must if you’re looking for something different from your usual hip-hop norm. Check it.
