“Don’t forget the past, no more Shorty, strictly Buckshot…” – Black Moon
No disrespect to Wu Tang but personally my fav click from the 90’s was the Bootcamp Click. From the second I heard “Who Got the Props” I was on board –bringing Smif ‘n’ Wessun, Heltah Skeltah, OGC and the Beatminerz into the mix just made me mess with these dudes THAT much more. The illest thing about Buckshot wasn’t just his lyrics but him being able to see the big picture for his team. From forming Duck Down records and Duck Down management, Buckshot was setting up his future, behind the scenes while still in the forefront. Now in 2010 after over 3 million records sold Duck Down is celebrating it’s 15th year anniversary. To help commemorate 15 years of hip hop, Buckshot is dropping a pamphlet called “The Common Knowledge of the Entertainment Industry”. Buck breaks things down in 3 sections for the readers. First is the “Basics” of the industry. Second, is the “framework” of what the inner workings of running a record label looks like and third is “how it all works” and shows the process of putting everything together. Also with the pamphlet, you’ll get a 13 track album with Buckshot spittin about the concepts that are dealt with in the pamphlet. In today’s climate with more independent artist shopping and selling their music online, this is the perfect time for all the music entrepreneurs out there to cop this when it drops November 23rd.
