If you’ve been following my posts over the last few months, then you’ll know that I constantly keep talking about a group that goes by the name of The Naked and Famous. After a two year hiatus from the music scene and the transition from a duo to a five-member band, The Naked and Famous have quite simply taken over 2010 in New Zealand. After scooping up the APRA Silver Scroll Award (New Zealand’s answer to the Grammys), for their single Young Blood last night, and their debut album Passive Me, Aggressive You being released on Monday to huge critical acclaim, their buzz is only going to continue spreading around the globe.
Unlike many other “indie” debut releases, Passive Me, Aggressive You actually lives up to the hype and whilst the MGMT and Passion Pit “sound” makes an appearance, it is far from a copycat album. Scrolling through their Twitter page I almost jumped out of my seat when I saw a Young Blood remix had been done by none other than my favourite Swedish pop duo on the planet, The Sound of Arrows.
