I remember when I first saw the video for Makeda on BET in 1998. I remember how I was fixated on this soulful and sexy Parisian duo who made a style of R&B that was familiar, yet completely exotic. I bought the album the next day.
And many of you did, as the sisters,Hélène and Célia Faussart, have become one of the most successful French-language artists in the US becoming cult phenomenons in the American neo-soul community. As a fan from the jump, I’m glad to see them coming out with their latest project, titled Nu Revolutiondropping sometime this year.
The first single is Liberté, which is quickly getting spins, and is a great introduction (or reintroduction) to the group for those who don’t know. Check it. (via Hip-Hop is Cool Again)
