LATE PASS: She and Him
by Winston "Stone" Ford
I told myself I would resist She and Him’s “made for blogger” ascetic and hipster charm. I did good so far, avoiding the bands multiple appearances at SXSW and the Zooey Deschanel look-alikes that littered Austin that week. Unfortunately though, I gave in. Their art school pop quirkiness has won me over, especially with this track In The Sun, which I’ve been secretly blasting on my iPod for a while now.
The secret’s out, the duo’s mix of upbeat Patsy Cline-esque country and folk has got my ear. And even if some thing that they represent everything wrong with indie music, they’ll still have a spot in my collection.
