People always debate about the role of music in commercials. On one end, as a musician you’re extending your brand into a mainstream audience and hopefully getting a check plus more album sales in the future. On the other, having your song interpreted by non dancing suburbanites could diminish your standing with the your core followers.
Which choice is right? I have the slightest idea. But I am glad to see this Chips Ahoy commercial featuring the one and only Chuck Brown’s hit “Bustin’ Loose.” Why? Because at the end of the day, go-go, DC’s native rhythm needs get out beyond the DMV. And if it takes a commercial for cookies to do this, then so be it.
What do y’all think? Is this good or bad for go-go? (via Superbizzee)
