SXSW Showcase Preview: Jahdan Blakkamoore

by Yvette Travillian

We’ve been previewing some of the dope hip hop artists we have performing at our upcoming SXSW Showcase, now it’s time to flip it up a bit. In comes Jahdan Blakkamoore a reggae artist who has been in the game since reppin’ hard as a member of the  in the Boot Camp Clique and is someone who continues to see his star rise higher each day.

The days of legally buying music is no longer the norm, so it was seriously major when Jahdan moved music fans so much that he became one the most downloaded reggae artist of his time. First, in 2008 his group Noble Society was voted by iTunes as  ‘best reggae album of the year’  for Take Charge  and then a year later his solo album, Buzzrock Warrior was also named by iTunes as ‘best reggae album of the year’ – a feat many deem incredibly  notable. Buzzrock Warrior was my first introduction to Jahdan as a solo artist and his ill voice and poignant lyrics instantly captured my attention:

Jahdan Blakkamoore is far from finished; His Dutty Artz crew is blowing up right now alongside last summer’s reggae anthem on the Diplo and Switch’s Major Lazer collabo called Cash Flow. His past work with Smif f N Wesson is still labeled as a club banger and he is by far among one of the most sought after reggae artist participating at this year’s SXSW festival.  He has performed ALL over the world easily gaining new hip hop, dub step and dancehall fans in the process -and we guarantee that next week he will bring that same entertaining, energetic and memorable performance to the SXSW stage – which is why we are extremely excited and honored to have him on board.

Jahdan Blakkamoore will be performing at the Senari x Couch Sessions SXSW showcase next Wednesday, March 17th at 10:00 PM.  RSVP Here
