IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Snoop Dogg-I Wanna Rock

by Yvette Travillian

OK, so maybe I’m really missing Cali right now but seriously – this joint is kinda hot.  I Wanna Rock is off Snoops recently released Malice in Wonderland album and it contains a dope chopped & screwed kind of sample of Rob Base’s ‘It Takes Two’. I believe this song and video sneaked past a lot of people at the end of the year.

Superbly produced by Scoop DeVille (son of Cali rapper Kid Frost (y’all remember ‘Laraza’?)…) who has provided beats to artist such as The Game, Cory Guns and Linkin Park) Snoop is shining harder than I’ve seen in a while on this song and even more so on the video, which also stars Jaime Fox.  This is a straight-up club banger – and I don’t even really mess with the clubs like that anymore.

With almost 20 years in the game, Snoop is certainly one of the most well respected rappers and always will be. While there will never be another Doggy Style I’m just glad to see him back doing what he does best. And personally, I’m counting on him to still be around when he’s in his 80’s- having a good time and lacing us with nuggets of hotness every now and then.
