DOWNLOAD: Erik Rico – The Reworks Project

LA’s Erik Rico might not be a household name yet, but the artist, who was discovered and signed by none other than Randy Jackson back in the day, has been making moves in the underground for a hot minute. Unfortunately, the major label deal did not work out, but Rico managed to drop a gem, Journey Back to Me a few years back, and comes to us today with his newest…The ReWorks Project.

Reworks featured Erik taking some of the best tracks from the likes of Sade, Stevie Wonder, Prince, and James Brown and completely flipping them into his style. You might have already heard his take on “Sweetest Taboo,” but I feel his remix of James Brown’s “Make It Funky,” is of particular note.

If you like Reworks, Check out Rico’s other releases on LifeNotes Music. Enjoy!

Nice set here…very bold…a little self-indulgent at times…but very innovative with some of the production choices. Dude swung for the fence on the song selection…bona fide classics. Justice done though.

That Dorthy Parker is kind of nuts.
