Maybe two weeks ago, I was cleaning out some boxes of old stuff at my parents’ house. In one of the boxes, I found all my old cassette tapes. When I pulled out Michael Jacson’s Dangerous, I had to stop a moment and reflect on how that album made me feel as a kid.
I LOVED that album. Like nobody’s business.
Today, when I woke up and realized that the tragedy of his untimely death yesterday was in fact true, it hit me that I had lived my whole life knowing who Michael Jackson was and that generations after me had lost that opportunity. As I’ve aged, I’ve come to appreciate his career as more than just the King of Pop, but as a true musical legend.
I can’t express in words like some of us can. I just don’t have that knack. But I do know that whenever Michael plays, I’m not gonna stop till I get enough.
Thank you MJ for the ups and downs, the bangers and the classics that were your career. The world won’t be the same without you.
(Sidenote: My favorite video from Dangerous is “Remember The Time”. However, since that was disabled frrom embedding, I’m gonna post my next favorite, which is “Who Is It?”)
