Lloyd - “You” Remix feat Andre 3000 and Nas

As many of y’all know, I haven’ t been messin’ with the R&B thing, but I heard this track on an ATL mxitape (non DJ Drama) and couldn’t find the artist/song info anywhere. But of course, the track ended up landing in the inbox today. I don’t know much about Lloyd, other than the fact that he is a R&B singer out of the ATL (aren’t they all out of the ATL these days?). I can’t front though, cause the dude can sing.

However, I can’t lie. I’m more excited about Andre 3000’s rap at the intro of the track. It reminded me that the dude can rap, and he even brings that SpottieOttieDopaliscious swagger. It even makes me wanna petition Outkast to record a respectable comeback album. Nas phones in a rap from Queensbridge to round out what is probably my first favorite commercial R&B singles of the year.

nas’ part didn’t seem “phoned in” at all

My bad, I didn’t mean to say that Nas’s part was bad, but I use the term “phoned in” because a lot of the contributors to these collaborations spit their verse in a home studio without even meeting the artist they’re doing the song for.
