The name that came to alter the game…

Killer Mike is the best rapper from Atlanta right now (bring on the comments people). His mixtape from 2005, The Killer is super tough. Dude turned “Cupid” from 112 into a BIG-esque murder tale - and it worked.
I Pledge Allegiance to the Grind is that heat. I have a link, but I’m [...]

Lupe Fiasco Only Sells 58,000. Don’t Get Upset

First off, my source was wrong on the Lupe thing. He got the numbers for Fergie’s debut correct, but he was way off on Lupe’s numbers (he said 100,000).
In the end, Lupe sold about 58,000 copies of Food and Liquor, good enough for a number 12 debut.
Before people who support “real hip-hop” get [...]

Spank Rock Rejawned
YoYoYoYoYo is probably one of my favorite CD’s of the year and this remix album is almost as good as the original. When Spank dropped their [...]

What Happened to the Shows?

So in April, The Couch Sessions (okay Miss Hipstah) put on two incredible shows at DC9. The shows were off the hook, and generated some buzz around the community. Afterward, had acts from as far away as South Africa asking me to book dates. As fly as that sounds though, putting on a show [...]

Baltimore is Having the Best Year Ever

Diablo - Round My Hood

Baltimore gets a lot of crap from people in DC, but the city as a whole is blowin’ up. First, there’s The Wire, one of the best shows on television, bringing the plights of inner-city B-more into homes around the world. Then, there’s Baltimore club, which is blowin’ up [...]

Love Break 2

Cosmo Baker presents….Love Break 2
Straight from Cosmos site :
“This CD is 74 minutes of classic soul slow-jams from the late 60s through the early 80s. Most every song has been sampled by a hip-hop tune if you’re into that sort of thing. However, I think it’s pretty much just a good CD to cruise to [...]
