No Love Rollercoaster for Biggie

The sale of Notorious B.I.G’s album Ready to Die was halted on March 17th

The reason was because a jury decided that the track “Ready to Die” used a sample of The Ohio Players song “Singing in the Morning.”

The lawsuit was one of nearly 500 that Bridgeport Music and Westbound Records filed against numerous companies and musicians who used samples from Parliament-Funkadelic and The Ohio Players, among others. In this case, Bridgeport and Westbound were suing Bad Boy Entertainment, Justin Combs Publishing, Bad Boy LLC, Universal Records and Sean “Diddy” Combs. They won over $4 million.
