Top Singles of 2005

Image-1_Thing.jpg

Single of the Year: Amerie - “1 Thing” - Regardless of whether you like this song or not, you have to admire this track's rise to the top. “One Thing” languished on the shelf for over a year before producer Rich Harrison leaked it to radio stations and internet sites (including my other site, AO) generating an underground buzz so strong that Amerie's record label couldn't repress it.

Honorable Menitons:

Young Jeezy ft. Jay-Z - “Go Crazy (Remix)”
Mempis Bleek ft. Jay-Z - “Dear Summer”
John Legend - “Ordinary People”
Alcia Keys - “Unbreakable”
Black Eyed Peas ft Cee-Lo, John Legend, Talib Kweli, and Q-Tip - “Like That”
Ludacris and Field Mob - “Georgia”
Da Backwoodz - “You're Gonna Love Me”
Three 6 Mafia - “Poppin' My Collar”
Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley - “Welcome to Jamrock”
The Game ft. 50 Cent - “Hate It or Love It”
Amerie - “1 Thing”
Three 6 Mafia ft. Young Buck, Eightball & MJG - “Stay Fly”
Ying Yang Twins - “Wait (The Whisper Song)”
Common - “The Corner”
Busta Rhymes - “Touch It”
The Procussions - “Miss January”
Common - “Go”
D'Nell - “This Thing”
Gorillaz - “DARE”

That's it for now. I’ll be adding to this list whenever the spirit strikes me.
