Dionne Farris Returns

Dionne FarrisRemember Dionne Farris? We were first introduced to her by way of her vocals on Arrested Development's 1992 breakthrough single “Tennessee,” and, as a result, she helped put them on the map. In 1995, she dropped her solo album Wild Seed — Wild Flower which spawned the alternative hit “I Know,” besides being a solid effort throughout. Then there was “Hopeless” (as a penny with a hole in it), her contribution to the 1997 Love Jones soundtrack. After that, she just…disappeared.

Well, after a 10 year hiatus, Farris is finishing a new, as-yet-untitled studio album, set for release first-quarter 2006 via Sanctuary Urban.

Sanctuary's president, Matthew Knowles, describes the set as “a lot more R&B” with “a slight alternative edge,” according to Billboard.com.
